The SATHRA (Trust certificate number IT169/2000; NPO nr 061-431) is a non-profitable organization, which started about thirteen years ago using a unique form of therapy on horseback to treat people with specific needs. It is the mission of the organization to provide Equi-therapy to people with problems who might benefit from the therapy in their general health and well-being. The therapeutic side is to help them to minimize their problems and to use maximum of their potential.

Tshidiso Benjamin Motswatswa is an 8 years old boy that urgently needs therapy at our Centre.

He needs R6, 500-00 per month to receive the proper therapy. Although he looks very normal, he is presenting with some mayor problems. The mother is a single-parent and they stay in a very small room.

This fee will be if he is only here during the week and going home over weekends. Travelling expenses for the mother and him are not included and will be approximately R1, 000 per month and should be included in the above amount.

Sean Savage

Sean Samuel Thomas Savage is a very special boy. He was born 1998-10-15. He developed normally but was involved in an accident. A gate fell on his head and he was in a coma for a few hours and afterwards in the Intensive Care Unit. Since then he is experiencing major coordination, speech and learning problems.

His father unfortunately died a year ago and his mother is currently urgently looking for work as she also has another child to look after. He is in urgent need of therapy but the family cannot afford it. He is currently involved in a very intensive therapeutic program and is seen by a full multi-disciplinary medical team. On the premises there is a Therapeutic School and the success of the school lies in the fact that they are receiving Occupational Therapy, Therapeutic Horse-riding and the teacher (who is trained to work with children like this) is working on him intensively on a daily basis. He stays in and special attention is given to his diet, and a special program is followed in the home to work on his problem-areas, self-esteem, etc.

As the mother cannot afford to keep him here any longer, we are urgently looking for a sponsor to help pay for his medical treatment. We urgently need about R10, 000 per month and we believe with proper, intensive therapy that he will be able to attend a normal school in the year 2011. At the moment Kiara is also very much in need of urgent therapy. I believe that her loss after her father died has a big influence on her. She stutters a lot at the moment and she presents with emotional problems.
